DataCore SANmelody overcomes the high cost barrier and complexity of traditional SAN storage. SANmelody converts standard Intel/AMD servers, blades or virtual machines (VMs) into fully capable storage servers that virtualize disks and serve them over existing networks to application servers. They are simple to operate, take only minutes to install, and let you cost-effectively optimize, manage and protect data storage and disk space.

DataCore lowers the virtualization price tag by reducing the cost of the shared storage required to support it. Over 85% of virtualization deployments require high-availability, SAN shared storage to protect the many application/desktop/server "eggs" that consolidation places in one server "basket", and to keep the operations that depend on them running in the event of server or disk failure.

SANmelody accelerates performance through built-in caching that minimizes delays from slower mechanical drives. The software equitably distributes the available disk space to multiple applications spread across several machines by carving out smaller logical disks from larger physical disks. Ethernet iSCSI host connections and Fiber Channel high-bandwidth ports are supported. Like other powerful Windows-based software, SANmelody runs on a wide choice of hardware platforms and disk drives.
